Hello, as you probably know, the USMA candidate questionnaire form opened today. I was planning on completing it ASAP, but I became unsure when I got to the sports and school activities section. I am planning on playing varsity baseball this spring, but tryouts haven't started yet. I am also planning on running for band officer later this year and attending boys state in the summer as well. I wanted to include these in my candidate questionnaire, but does that mean that I should wait until early July to start my application? Would I be able to submit the questionnaire now and then add these activities to my application at a later date? I don't know how important the candidate questionnaire is in the entire application so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

You will have ample opportunity to add/modify/delete activities once the actual application opens up. This questionnaire will help determine which individuals are selected as candidates, but the USMA will look at the updated information from your application to determine which candidates will receive offers of appointment.

Last year I was told to put what I did and planned to do (primarily for sports). I don’t know how that would translate for Boys State, since that is more competitive to get into, but you can get an idea. The Candidate Questionnaire is only a preliminary application, as someone else said before me you’ll have tons of time to update and change your profile. You fill out a whole new one when you go to do your actual application.

Thanks for answering my question! I will do the same as you and check the activities I plan on doing in the future. If/when I become a candidate, I will be able to fill out the application with more accuracy.
