Thanks for this information. If the majority of MOCs use this method it would seem that candidates cannot really count being on the slate as having a nom. Correct?

Incorrect. The candidates all have a nomination. Only one will get an appointment. Whalerty's post above should read:
3- Competitive. All 10 nominees compete, with West Point deciding which 1 gets the appointment. Most MOCs use this one, as it assures the least "political" favoritism.

Thank you for the clarification.

For the people living in Virginia, has anyone received a declined letter from Senator Kaine?
Not yet.
DS received nomination for USMMA from Senator Kaine.
Now... question!
DS asked for USNA nomination as 1st choice and USMMA was 2nd choice. Since he got the nomination for USMMA, I guess his chance of getting the momination for USNA from Senator Kaine is over?

Merry Christmas to all! It was a very merry Christmas for my son as he received a nomination to both USAFA and USMA from Congressman Rothfus (PA-12). Have not yet heard from Senators Toomey or Casey yet but also heard they will not be notifying until the week of January 8th or so. Question - we have heard, they coordinate with the nominating sources so they do not double nominate therefore we do not expect DS to receive any additional nominations. The question is -- is one nomination type (i.e. congressman or senator) "better" than the other or are they all pretty much "equal"? Thanks!
i would think they are all equal...?

My son also got a nomination from our congressman but have heard nothing from senators. He has a LOA however we are awaiting a waiver for shoulder surgery that occurred in 2016. All additional information has been turned in and we wait.... I am unsure of the possibility he will receive any additional nominations as you have stated that it appears that they don't like to give out more than one per candidate. I am a nervous wreck. He is being recruited to wrestle also. This is all so confusing. Best of luck to you!

Al Franken's office "postponed" interviews 3 days before when they were to happen. Now he's announced his upcoming resignation. His office isn't taking calls. Does anyone know what could/might become of the interviews and or nominations from his office?

I simply cannot imagine the angst you must feel at being 3 days away from a nomination interview and having it postponed because this clownshoe announced his resignation.
I hope that they will have someone step in and take care of it, for your sake. Especially if it's your 3rd interview and you don't have a nomination yet.
Thank you. As follow up, Franken announced the new Senator will start on Jan 2 and will handle the noms. Fortunately, DD received LOA so we're at ease now waiting for noms.

Hello. Has anyone heard back from Congressman King or Senator Gillibrand from New York?
