Only nomination to USAFA, to which he responded yes! Kaine's letter did ask my DS to reply to link accepting the nomination (he's using a full 10 competitive field). I think Kaine has a longer list he's going down if/when any nominees turn down the nomination he goes down to the next one on his list to offer a slot.

VAtwinsmom, it's hard to imagine why anyone would refuse the nomination unless not interested in a service academy anymore. So, I can't imagine there were many refusals, if any. So, it's probably not a long list!

I also heard of 2 declining because they did not pass medicals.

I received a nom from Sen Warner to usna and my friend received a Kaine nom to usafa within the last two weeks. We are both from VA-10.

I believe Senator Warner's slate is competitive. From his website:

"Offers of appointment are made by the admissions office on a competitive basis measuring the overall qualifications and eligibility of all nominees."

That's what my son's USAFA nom letter said as well. Now waiting for LOA.

DS got a rejection letter from Senator Kaine saying that it could be because he was already nominated. So there is coordination in VA.

If you look back at last years Virginia Nom thread several people got senator and rep noms.
 
I saw that. I think they come from a single district. I could be wrong. Pursue every nom until the option no longer exists!

Dadx4 ~ seems we have some parallels. DS got a nom from Kaine and not Warner. Still holding out hope for Comstock. All the best to you and yours throughout this grueling process.

I have a Warner nom to USNA, and got rejected by Kaine on the premise that they “coordinate between districts and you may already have a nom...”. Also waiting for Comstock but doubt I will get nominated due to this as well.

I interviewed for two of my three (third didn’t hold interviews) during the time frame of Oct. 28th- Nov 1. Have heard back from two as of late December, still no third. So approx. two months, assuming my third is on its way, which it should be any day.

I just found this.. does being the junior/ senior senator make a difference? Someone once told me that Warner chooses top noms and recommends remaining candidates to Kaine.. do you know any info about that?

I can't speak to how they coordinate noms, but any senator nomination is equal to any other senator nomination in the SA's eyes.

My DS received an email from Cornyn on Dec 15 informing him of his nom. It was followed up by a letter on the 26th. Received a rejection letter from Cruz on the 26th as well.

DD got a rejection letter from Cruz, but never received anything from Cornyn.
