WA Senator nom

My daughter got nominations from Brian Baird to USAFA and USNA. Saturday she got a letter form Marie Cantwell with a nomination USNA.

WA-4 Nom 2013

DD received nomination letter from WA-4, Doc Hastings, today.

Success on this step! Yea!

She has upped her SAT scores this year over last, her CFA is still solid. She has her academics at NW Prep, as a Falcon Scholar, with a community college next semester. She'll be back in 3 days from NW Prep.

I'm hoping she stays on this track from now to a BFE!

Proud Dad

Now a Senator's nod

Nonchalantly, DD lets it drop that about 2 weeks ago (~18 Jan), on the AFA candidate portal, she saw she received a nomination from Sen. Cantwell for Class of 2017.

Mom & Dad are thrilled. But she knows she has months to wait & refuses to get "excited."

Patience in practice. Good to see. Will post if/when a letter arrives.

Anyone receive their Washington nominations yet?

I received a nomination from representative Dave Reichert. (WA-08)

I haven't heard anything from Maria Cantwell or Patty Murray since I submitted my applications.

Congrats! Do you know if you received a principal nomination from your rep? I'm still waiting to hear from Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell as well.

It wasn't principal unfortunately...but, it's still a nomination. :)

Do you know if the Senators have called anyone about scheduling interviews yet?

For sure. No I haven't heard anything, but I think they are going to be in early January.

Rec'd Nomination

My son just received a nomination from Congresswoman Suzan DelBene to attend the Air Force Academy. :thumb:

I received a nomination from Congresswoman Suzan Delbene as well. Do you possible know how many received nominations. I know myself and one other candidate from my high school received one. During the interview it didn't seem like there were very many people there. My interview lasted close to an hour as well which I thought was weird since they were suppose to be 30m.

Each Congressman can nominate up to 10 people per academy, whether or not your Congresswoman reached that limit I don't know.

Senator Murray is supposed to be making her selections today! Fingers crossed!

Does anyone know the status of the Senatorial nominations? Are they supposed to do interviews or will they just tell us whether or not we received a nomination based on our application?

I called Cantwell's office and they said we should hear something this tuesday. From previous candidates i've heard they are more black and white with the nomination process, meaning they look at the info you provided, and don't seek out as much information as do the congressmen/woman seem to do. So its with my best judgement they probably wont do a interview but who knows they may do a last minute one.

Thanks. I'll contact both offices myself to see what information I can squeeze out of them and will post if I find out anything. Other than that, good luck on nominations.

So I just called both of the Senators.

Senator Patti Murray should be notifying her applicants around the end of the month. There are no interviews for her.

Senator Maria Cantwell will notify her applicants by letter by the 31st and only the only the top applicants will be required to do an interview so that she can rank her nominees.
