Hey Guys,

So I have interviewed with Senator Toomey, Casey and Congressman Smucker (PA-16) and I haven't heard anything back from them in terms of a nomination decision. Word on the street is that we should be hearing back before christmas. Has anyone else in PA heard back?

Posted in the wrong thread I was so excited!!! Delaware is starting to roll out Nominations. DD's USMA portal and USAFA Portal updated this morning with Senator Carper noms and Coons announced his Primaries on Friday with rest to be announced on 1/6. Blunt-Rochester interviews were just Friday so they will probably be the last to be announced late January.

DS just received his USAFA Nomination from Rep. Beyer, VA-8!! Now the next wait begins!

Still a bit confused about how the process works ... so using the example above, let's assume for a moment that Beyer was VAtwinsmom's DS's only nomination source to USAFA (not sure this is true -- purely hypothetical here). If VAtwinsmom's DS finds out he has an APPOINTMENT to USAFA, does that mean that the other candidates with noms from Beyer to USAFA must have another nominating source to get into USAFA because Beyer's one appointment to USAFA has been utilized (let's also assume this isn't a two appointment year for Beyer)?

(sorry to use you as the example, VAtwinsmom -- but your post lent itself nicely to my question!)

Let's say VAtwinsmom's DS gets a call from an unknown number. He picks it up and it's his MOC on the line telling him what an honor it is to attend the United States Air Force Academy and that his offer is on the way.

The other candidates on that MOC's slate get put back on the National Waiting List (NWL) and then the ones who have another nomination source may or may not be charged to a different vacancy, provided they win their slates.

I'm not sure how the NWL process works. From what I hear, the Academies first tender appointments for the slate winners and come back to the NWL later. While this seems to make the most logical sense, I can't tell you with utmost certainty that this is the case.

Good luck!

Yes, basically that is how it works. If VAtwinsmom’s son wins the slate, all other qualified applicants move to the NWL. After slates are resolved, the first 150 of the NWL are offered. Even though they have a MOC nomination, they will not be charged to the MOC. After that, the class is finished by Additional Appointees from the NWL. They do not have to be in rank order. You see athletes, diversity candidates, etc here.

My DS just received a nomination from Congressman Knight. When do the nominations show up on the USNA Candidate page?

DS just received "regret" letter from VA Senator Warner so I guess all those nominations have been delivered.

Congratulations!! How did you hear?
It's on his USAFA portal. No letter yet but holiday mail is heavy.
Received letter from Beyer today, stating noms to both USAFA and USMA, but D'S

DS received same today. Thankfully he has his Beyer.

Letter from Rep Connelly (VA-11) arrived today. It says that since my son has an LOA from USMA and a Presidential nomination and is guaranteed an appointment, his committee advised him not to nominate my son. He went on to invite him yo the recognition ceremony in the spring for all district 11 appointees.
Is this normal? Sounds like added risk for my son, but maybe this is the "share the wealth" philosophy I've read about?
