DS received the same today with the same date, which did seem strange to us.
@williamsdr3 dont be sad for him. This is character building. He’s not ever “failed” at anything academically. I reminded him that if the numbers I have read historically are true, 670 or so other very successful individuals got the same letter (working under the assumption of some 700 applicants in Texas). We have yet to hear anything from Cornyn or our local Rep MOC plus the VP noms as well. Who knows how it works out but alternate plans are in place if it doesn’t and he has already indicated he will apply again if he doesn’t get in this time. He’s determined, and I’ve never seen him fail at anything that he is determined to do...much like his mother in that respect...😁

Qustions. Do most Office call, snail mail, or email that u recieved a nomination. I know all communication up to this point has been email but curious to know what to look out for.

Check your portal. Some do none of the above. My current youngster received 3 and got notice from only one. The others popped up in his portal.

Most do whatever they want.

@okboomer Good luck to your son! I just wanted to acknowledge the Texas activity and the strange date on the Sen. Cruz letter but hated to put a "like" on a notice of a TWE. My son got the TWE from Sen. Cruz yesterday also, with the Nov. 20th date.

My prediction (with no inside information!) is Sen. Cornyn calls will happen today. If not today, certainly by the end of the week. I can't imagine them doing them on Monday the 23rd or in January.

DS received his nomination in the mail from Cruz yesterday. An interesting thing to note is that it said there were nearly 1,000 applicants. The press release on their meeting from November said they were giving out a total of 40 nominations. That means there's about a 4% chance of getting one. Think of all the incredible kids those folks have to evaluate. That's got to be a very tough job.

The reason for sharing is not about my DS son who got it (we're thankful for it for sure). This post is really for those who didn't to help them understand how hard it is. One of our other sons went through this last year and had an amazing resume but no nominations. One SA especially wanted him and the RC bent over backwards to try and get him in through prep school. The RC was talking to him once or twice a week and he didn't get a TWE till late May/June. He was crushed but moved on to plan B which worked out perfect. Point here is even if you don't get a nom the SA may try to get you in through the prep school or other means if they want you. It then just becomes a contest of which RC can get their guys in with the few spots left. I'm speculating here but from the outside that's what it looked like. Also if you don't get in look at going on to college and applying again. Evidently that's very common.

To anyone who has applied for nomination from Senator Kamala Harris, have you heard anything back yet? I sent my application for nomination in early November but haven't heard anything since. My USMA packet is almost complete: only need CFA. When are senatorial nomination decisions finally released?

I hope you applied to other nomination sources. We didn’t hear from her at all last year, not even a letter of rejection. Thankfully our cadet received a nomination from our congresswoman. Best of luck to you!

Same for us, this year.. not a single tiny little peep, one way or another, but DS got one from our congressman so I'm not too upset! :).
