If DD has not received mail or email from senator regarding recieving a nomination, but it shows up in their portal, is this finalized that they did indeed receive one?

My DD got a call and then an email from Gillibrand today....very excited! She also just had her MOC interview a few days ago. Anyone have any feedback about Schumer?
Still no word from Schumer..... sounds like nothing went out yet
At least four years ago when our Firstie interviewed, Gillibrand and Schumer did theirs on the same day at the same place. They may have even combined interviews - memory is a little hazy on that score.
Last year Schumer conducted interviews in his Manhattan office and Gillibrand's interviews were in Albany.
It may be dependent on where you live. Our USMA Firstie was interviewed in Syracuse and our cadet candidate is scheduled for Syracuse as well. They have offices in several parts of the state.

The same thing happened to me but I was called by my Senator four days after my nomination showed up in my portal.
You may get a notification later!

DS has nomination interview for MD VanHollen (every applicant got an interview) and Harris. Nothing from Cardin yet, anybody in MD hear anyting from Cardins office?

I have a couple questions. Does everyone who applies for a nomination get an interview with the Senators? If so when would we expect to hear from the Senators?

I had the same question in mine. I got an email telling me about an interview with Sen. Feinstein. But once again, I was wondering if interviews are offered to all candidates? Or if its a sign we've moved on to the next stage of selection. No word from Sen. Harris for me.

The Senators in California have traditionally NOT interviewed everyone. That would be 100s upon 100s of candidates. Not sure how many they do interview.

Got a letter in the mail yesterday from Sen. Rubio (Florida) indicating that DS did NOT receive a nomination from him on account of having already received one from our representative. Our state is pretty competitive, I've heard.

MOST senators committee's do not interview all applicants; the volume is just too great (this from conversing with fellow ALO's around the country). In AZ...they are selective; they will "rack and stack" applications, looking at SAT/ACT scores, GPA's, and things like that, much like the academy will. From there they pick the number they choose to interview. I can use one of our senators as an example as I worked on his nomination board in the past. There might be 500 applicants in the state; we'd interview about 125-135 total.

At least in this state, it's MUCH harder to get a senatorial interview than a congressional one.

This is what both Senators did in my State and it's fairly common. Usually the ratio of kids on the MOC slate versus kids that were interviewed matches the total ratio of candidates who are 3Qed and nominated versus those that did not pass the nomination phase. Due to the way MOC boards are taught to select candidates to interview, that only makes sense.

Here's a guide made for MOCs from 2014. While it's older, it still provides tremendous insight on how candidates are selected for interview and nomination:
