The application will open on April 25, 2018 for Sen. Murphy. If I am reading right, Sen Blumenthal requires a personal essay, but Sen Murphy does not. We are CT district 04.

Yep, the page updated a few days ago. Blumenthal opens May 14th as well. No update to the representative in CT-02. I’m curious to see what they each require—they use the same portal for the application so I assume it’s relatively similar.

Congressional Academy Day is also 4/25, if you didn’t know already, I think the information about it is on Mr. Murphy’s website.

Do you guys think its best to apply for the congressional nomination right away or should I wait a while to add to my application first? Do they give preference to those who come first? I just don't want to submit my app and be at a disadvantage because I improved my grades/scores/EC's later.

no preference as long as everything received by deadline. in PA the senators used the same portal but essays one could only be up to 500 words the other had to be more thsn 500! our MOC was paper application still

Is it difficult to obtain a nomination from a NJ senator or House of Rep?

It all depends on who the competition is in any given year, and how many slots that elected rep has available.

That gets asked a lot on here. The reality is that most aspects of applying to an SA are a competition and far more apply than get appointments. Since it unlikely your family will relocate just to improve your 'chances' for getting a NOM from a MOC, it is better to focus on those things you have control over. Applicants should also work their Plan B school(s) since you just never know how things might go.

Ok thanks just thought I would ask since this our Senators sites seems to all be under construction and no way to start the process until the end of the month.

Nominations are not due to the Academy until January of next year. While it is important to start early to ensure you get it all done, most things can wait until the start of school next year.

Yeah it really depends on what district you live in and how competitive that district is in your given year. What district are you in, if you don’t mind me asking?

I am a BGO that lives in NJ-11 and some of my schools are in NJ-11 and some in NJ-5. NJ-11 is one of the most competitive districts in the state and the competition is tougher than NJ-5. One of my "BGO kids" has an appointment for the class that is about to enter and he is from NJ-5 but I believe that he would be competitive in NJ-11 as well.
    .
Earlier in this thread it was asked if the Senators and MOCs coordinated appointments. I serve on the interview panels for Menendez and Booker. Their staffs hold the interviews together as has been the practice in NJ for many years and the staffs DO collaborate/coordinate so nobody should get a nom from both of them. As for the MOCs, I am familiar with the processes for several of them and they do NOT collaborate/coordinate with the Senators.

Today, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy’s Nomination Application is supposed to open, May 3, 2018. Is anyone having trouble accessing the Class of 2023 online application portion? It still shows the Class of 2022 Application and the notation, “The due date has passed.”

Same here. Guessing that they just haven’t opened up the portal. My representative hasn’t even updated the page from last year—pain in the butt when we’re all so adamant on getting the ball rolling ASAP, but we probably can’t do much about it.

Hey, I am an applicant at USMA and the other service academies, I was wondering if anyone has interviewed with the Honorable John Lewis ( 5th congressional district of Georgia), what was it like and when should I submit my request for a nomination. It seems as if the information on his website has not been updated so I am unsure whether I should submit or wait. Also, am I supposed to submit the request in person? Any assistance would be nice, thank you!
