My MOC already notified that I have received a nom from her for USNA, but hasn't sent our district's nominations to USNA yet. Therefore I don't have a nomination for USNA yet. Will this affect my chances for appointment? Because I know that a large wave of appointments come out in mid January; will this cause a delay in a decision on my application?

It shouldn't as nominations are not due until Jan 31. Grandson's senate nomination appears on his portal; however, his nomination from his representative does not appear though he was notified nearly two weeks ago. Similarly, it was about 2 weeks after the phone call from his senator's nominating committee that the nomination appeared on the portal.

No need to worry at this point. The real flood of appointments won't come until the Feb - Mar time frame. Most of the appointments to date appear to be LOAs.

Thank you very much for the assurance!

I don't know how true that is as my daughter received a nomination from Congressman and Casey.
Congrats to your daughter! Sounds like she is one of the few that will get lucky and get double nominated even though a rep from Casey’s office told me via email they do try to specifically elimate that from happening to ensure as many qualified Pennsylvanians get a nomination as possible there is no guarantee it eliminates it from happening every once in a while.

Congratulations to all of our kids who have worked so hard to get to this point. My DS received a MOC nom and a similar letter from Pa Senator office about same SA, that he’s well qualified but they are trying to avoid double noms in our competitive state and thus won’t get an additional nom. So once again we wait!

Best of luck to all of these fine men and woman!

Anybody heard from VA-10 (Congresswoman Comstock) yet?
Did you get a reply yet? Any response on Comstock nominations? My son applied last year as well and Comstock letters went out in the last week in December last year. Have not heard here yet this year though.

As expected, son's letter from Toomey came today saying that although he was considered to be among the most well qualified that was interviewed, he will not be placed on Senator Toomey's slate this year because he already has a nomination.... Happy he has the one nomination already and not having to stress about receiving the one necessary....

DS is in the same boat.

My son got his rejection from Toomey yesterday explaining that they do not double nominate and since he got a nomination from our congressman that he will not be receiving another nomination.
My question is, out of PA 16 congressional districts, there will be 160 kids nominated through their congressman, so it seems that the senator is now picking from kids that weren’t in the top 160 in the state? Meaning no offense but this doesn’t seem right that a kid gets a higher spot by earining a principal nomination from a senator when they didn’t rank in the top 10 in their own district? Am I thinking through this wrong?
I know this is just the “way it is” but it’s defintiely a bit broken. I agree with sharing the wealth but I would think the senator should still be able to double nominate for the few couple of slots in their slate to ensure the most qualified kid gets a fair shot

Agreed...we got the same letter. My son has a LOA and received a nomination from Congressman Thompson.

Same for us.

Congrats! My son doesn't have a LOA so the wait continues for him. He is actually still waiting to see if they are going to request a waiver for a shoulder disqualification.... talk about stressful times.... Trying to have patience.

We just found out last week that my son received a waiver for his shoulder surgery from his contact at WP. It has not reached his portal yet so we are still waiting....Patience is definitely something required for this process. Best of luck to you!! Where are you from in Pennsylvania? We live in Erie.

DS received nomination for USMMA from Senator Kaine.
Now... question!
DS asked for USNA nomination as 1st choice and USMMA was 2nd choice. Since he got the nomination for USMMA, I guess his chance of getting the momination for USNA from Senator Kaine is over?

Virginia coordinates between MOC and it is unlikely that any nom dupes will be given.
I have heard the Virginia senators coordinate but that the reps don’t necessarily. DS got a Warner nom to USNA and we are still hoping for a rep nom.
DS has a nomination from Senator Warner and hoping for a nomination from Congressman as well, but signs point against it.

What signs??
DS got a rejection letter from Senator Kaine saying that it could be because he was already nominated. So there is coordination in VA.
If you look back at last years Virginia Nom thread several people got senator and rep noms.

I was one of the applicants who received nominations from both a Senator and a Congressman. Senator Warner nominated me to USMMA and Congressman Rigell (VA-02) gave me two nominations, one to USNA and the other to USMMA. I received a letter from Senator Kaine that they do not double nominate so I would not be receiving a nomination from him. And yes the Senators do coordinate on their nominations but the Representatives do not.

@mommydoc @Dadx4 your DS or DD could still receive a nomination from your representative, they just might be moving slower than the Senators. If it is the same from last year I believe the deadline to submit them to the respective Academies is January 31.
Thank USMMA2021. Some Representatives coordinate in VA and others do not. We live in a district where our Representative coordinates with the Senators, so only one nomination is possible, and that puts DS at a disadvantage. Northern VA is ultra-competitive. Unlikely that DS will win slate or be in top 150 on NWL. DS is expecting rejections but has some reasonable backup plans in place.
DS's USAFA nomination from Virginia Senator Kaine showed up in his portal last Friday, three weeks after letter arrived in mail. Woohoo. That makes two noms for USAFA and 1 to USNA. Continued patience for word on appointment(s) is tough!

I think that Rep Beyer is the only MOC in Virginia who doesn't coordinate with senators. Most in Virginia get only one nomination to one service academy, so congratulations!

The suspense is indescribable... And as the days pass the anxiety will go up- its natural... Enjoy the ride and good luck

My son got a NOM from Toomey (snail mail) and letter said "one of my nominees" and got a NOM from our Congressman no letter just on portal. Nothing either way from Casey so no sense of how this is done in PA. He does have an LOA for USMA.

I was under the impression from my regional advisor that Senators had first pick, but looking at how spread out the congressmen's nominations are released (some heard back pretty quickly; I myself still haven't heard from my Congressman) I'm not sure that's true.

Regardless, congratulations to you and your son on his nominations! Best of luck.
